First Meets

Summer Lovin' Contest update…..had to ditch the cowboy hat and use a paint bucket from Home Depot for all the names I'm keeping track of daily. I want to fill the whole bucket, so keep posting away!!

I invite all of you to join me June 25th when True Confessions begins…my daily on-line read at http://www.eharlequin.com Come meet Patrick and Dolly, two characters that make an appearance in the last of my McKade Brothers series, Ryan's Renovation (August 07).

Okay, today's topic…First Meets--when the hero and heroine meet for the first time in a story.

One of the most fun "meets" I've ever written was in my first book, The Cowboy and the Bride, when the heroine gets caught up on a barbed wire fence in her wedding gown and the hero (rancher) has to figure out a way to get her unhooked before the bull in the pasture charges to fence. In the end the poor guy has to rip half the dress off to free her and just in the nick of time! The bull is left trotting away with the lower half of the heroine's wedding gown hanging from his horns.

Your turn…share one of your favorite "First Meets" that you've either written or read!

Happy Reading!

One of my favorite first meets is is in "There Goes The Bride" by Lori Wilde. Delaney Cartwright intends to "kidnap" her fiance for some frisky fun, dressed in only a baby doll, stillettos and a pink raincoat she waits outside his office. But of course, she nabs the wrong guy, who turns out to be the man of her dreams! Very funny moment!

Favourite first scene is from "Marrying Max" by Nell Dixon. His first view of her is her fine behind since the other half of her was stuck in the house when the window jamb she was climbing through fell back down, locking her in place. Can you imagine the embarrassment, especially since he was a potention client.

When Danika and Alex meet in Range War Bride by Brenda Williamson; there has been a cattle stampede and Alex rescues Danika and lifts her up onto his horse. They ride to safety and the feelings are stirring even though their faces are dirty and her shoulder is dislocated.

I can't think of any particularly memorable. My most recent reads included:
-- Hero catches heroine before she passes out on busy sidewalk
-- Best friend introduces heroine to her brother (hero) so that brother can help her plan her wedding to another man
-- Heroine meets hero in malfunctioning elevator
-- Heroine faints when she meets hero at house

Not too unusual.

In Nora Roberts' Blue Smoke the hero sees the heroine several times before they actually meet and had a crush on her so he is so excited when they end up as neighbors and she thinks he's a lunatic.
