The holiday spirit just hasn’t hit me yet this year. With deadlines and copy edits and all the other things life brings on a day-to-day basis, there hasn’t been time to think about it, much less decorate, shop, and wrap. And it’s only one week until Christmas!
I need help!
I’m looking for suggestions to get my spirit in gear. I’ve read some wonderful blog and Facebook posts about memories of Christmases past, learning the true meaning of the holiday, and how to de-stress at this most maddening time of the year. But none of them have done the trick. I feel like Scrooge, and that’s not how I want to feel. So let me know what you do to get in the mood for what’s been called the most wonderful time of the year.
May the spirit of the holidays be with everyone this year and on into the next. That includes me!

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Yule, Happy Kwanzaa to all!

Hi Rox
what really puts me in the xmas spirit is shopping for gifts to give to local organizations which help the needy. Every year my daughter and I pick a couple of angels from the community xmas tree at the mall and we spend a day together shopping for the "angels' We have lunch out and it's really become a special time for us.
Marin
A Cowboy Christmas *in stores now*
I agree with Marin.
Oh...and driving around in pajamas looking at Christmas lights with the kids! Does it every time.
Rox,
Start singing Christmas carols or silly songs. Anything to lift your spirits. Or like Marin said give to someone in need, especially children. That's always lift my spirits.
Now sing Rocking 'round the Christmas tree...
Linda LOL
LOL Linda! I have that one on my playlist and have listened a few times. Maybe I SHOULD try singing to it...if the neighbors don't complain. (grin)
Thanks, Laura! I'll try the Christmas lights. It should put a smile on someone's face, for sure. :)
Marin, what a lovely thought! Now to find a time when the mall isn't crowded...
I like to listen to Christmas music, that usually brings out the holiday spirit.
Christmas music and lights gets me there! I listen to Christmas music in my car to and from work.
I also take a moment to stare at one of my Nativity scenes.
Today there is a light coating of snow on the ground and that's tipping the scale even more! Course, you can't make it snow!
I wish I had the magic suggestions for you, but I feel the same way this year. Darn it.
A friend of mine volunteers at the local food bank. She says there's nothing like it to remind herself how blessed SHE is.
