ANYONE EVER NOTICE?

My husband has always done most of the work around our house himself. It’s saved us tons of money over the years. He roofed the house himself. He does air conditioning, electrical and mechanical. But as I’ve mentioned before, we moved to a more rural neighborhood this summer with a couple acres. All our married life, hubby has dreamed about having a real shop for his projects. Not just the garage, where I get upset when he kicks my car out or leaves his tools, nails, etc scattered. So part of the deal when we moved was that I got my smaller single story home and he got to build his shop. Of course, it’s proving more costly than he’d anticipated. Big surprise, huh! Now if I haven’t made it clear, this shop is his. I have very little input. I get to make decisions about the house and spend money making it nice and he gets to design his shop.

But here’s the fun part. And I don’t think I’ll mention it to him and spoil his fun in thinking he’s the only one enjoying this project. As we’ve gotten older, and given that we both still hold down full time jobs, he’s actually hiring contractors to do some of the work. Today so far we’ve had three dump trucks making a huge mound of dirt in the back and currently there is a bobcat running around. It may be hubby’s shop, but watching these young guys work is certainly more fun than I’d anticipated. Tight jeans, cotton tee shirts, and sunglasses. Toss in a little good old fashioned sweat. Truly a romance writer’s heyday. I’m feeling remarkably inspired to write today. But has anybody except me noticed how these guys get younger every year?

They must all live out by you because if I see men working construction on the roads they either look 9 months pregnant or have beards hanging inches past their chin!
So I envy you your view!

Enjoy the view. He doesn't need to know.

These are young and obviously do physical labor on a daily basis. Sort of cool. We'll see what Monday's crew brings. Ha! I fear they'll be closer to the ones in Marcie's area.

Man oh man, I'm thinking I need my house remodeled... Only young, built hunks need apply. Oh and shirts are forbidden. :)

I hear you about the shirts, Juliet. We should have started this project back in the hot summer months instead of November.

Wish the construction guys around here were like yours Pam, but like Marcie I have older bald and not so built guys. But I enjoyed picturing your description Pam!

Men who do physical labor definitely look better than those who just go to the gym. Maybe it's just knowing that they got the look bc they're hard workers...the kind that'll take care of you, rather than the kind worried about their looks and picking up chicks. Lose the shirt, put on a cowboy hat, and come hither!

Somehow I get the feeling your hubby will be hearing about some project that needs to get done this coming SUMMER. One that he can't handle, of course. Hee Hee.

Enjoy it while it lasts! May the memories keep you warm this winter.

You are so lucky. All the guys here are the older, experienced workers.
Emphasis on older.

You guys are so funny. Anonymous, I do find guys who do physical labor rather than go to the gym more atractive, like you say. I have been thinking about special projects that may need to be done. I am trying to avoid debt, but a pool sounds like a nice addition, huh?

Tomorrow will be a different team plus I have to actually work while watching them, so we'll see how that turns out for me. Hubby did say that he met the contractor's father and he's a bit eccentric, likes to get involved, so that should be entertaining in a whole other way. Oh well, a writer has to look for fodder where they can find it.
