It's a conspiracy

Honestly and truly, I have no idea why technology plots against me. Nine times out of ten, when I'm doing anything connected to computers, I have issues.

This time, it was loading a new program onto my computer. Piece of cake, you think? Any techno-dummy can handle it, right? All you have to do is stick in the CD and follow the prompts.

NOT!

I put in the CD.... Things moved along for a while.... Then a new file began loading...and loading...and loading.... And never stopped.

Called Tech Support. Got cut off. They called me back. Got cut off again.

Can you feel the frustration building? LOL

On my own again, tried rebooting the computer. Attempted re-clicking the CD. Went through the cycle of start, stop, start again, stop again--and at last, success!

Finally finished installing the program.

The program that should have taken...oh, approximately thirty minutes to load. And actually took four hours-plus.

So, I ask you:

Do things like this happen to you, too, or is it *really* a conspiracy? ;-))

All my best to you,

Barbara

I feel your pain. Earlier this week I was changing insurance companies online (because I despise talking on the phone) and it took for EVER because their website doesn't play nice with Macs. Can you believe a nationwide company has a website that doesn't play well with Macs???

I'm afraid to answer, afraid your jinx might mate with my jinx. Egads! What then? I have only to look crooked at my computer for it to take revenge.

Yes, I feel your pain.

You won't believe this, it did it to me here. I'm anomymous. It refused to take my name. See what I mean. This is the second time I'm trying sign.

I tried to open an account in an online bank and of course it messed up. Two different banks. Two different days. Had to call both banks' hot lines for help. ARRGGHHH

I HATE HATE HATE technical problems. I got a "bug" when I was in Florida last year. I worked for 3 days to get rid of it. I went through 4 different "virus specialists" and a little over 3 solid hours of sitting in IHOP before they got rid of it.

Maryf - you're right. What's up with that company?

Sorry to hear about the struggle. Hope you can find a way to get through to them.

Best,

Anonymous,

Thanks so much for the empathy.

And I almost used the "j" word in my blog post, too, except that... well...I was afraid I'd "j" myself. LOL

Sylvia!

That's too funny. Only it's not.

At least you made it through the second time around.

Cyndi,

OMGosh. That's worse than anything I've ever encountered.

You have my heartfelt sympathy. Hope that never, ever happens to you again!

Barbara, I would have been here sooner, but I've been on line with some guy in India trying to help me with a router. Technologically challenged? It really is a conspiracy. I failed miserably at BIAW today! We will overcome! Great post!

Ha! Barbara, I messed up trying to respond to your post!

I use a Mac and there are things I can't do. Online bill pay makes me crazy!

"The site is down try again later, when you've had time to forget and your payment is LATE!?"
"Oh, you can't pay from that account and it might take weeks before you can."

Oh, Barbara, I feel your pain. My day was the same, but I keep hoping a new day will bring some hope. Even the things that usually come easy have been bruisingly bad.

We'll make it through, that much I promise.

Donnell - thanks for stopping by, and hugs to you, too, on the technology frustration.

You know, I'm starting to think the old, old days--with pen and paper, seated next to a burning candle--maybe weren't so bad. LOL

Mary M - that's one of the many things that scares me about the idea of paying bills online!

Roxann,

So, maybe all the stars were just out of alignment that day? LOL

Thanks for this: << We'll make it through, that much I promise. >>

I'll hold you to it! ;-)

Hope you had a much better day today.

Well, that's very weird! I see duplicate responses from me to Donnell and Mary M, and I *know* I only responded once each.

Those cyber gremlins just don't want to give up!
