When Am I??

I know--I'm only experiencing the end of daylight's saving time, not time travel. No big deal, right? However, I have been traveling, although just from the Midwest to the Eastern time zone. Still, it threw me off. For a week, I waited for my TV shows to come on...and waited. It's an hour later there and I have no problem staying up. It's just that I know Hawaii 5-0 starts at nine on Monday. When it wasn't on, I got a little panicky, until I realized the program on the TV wasn't replacing my show. I hadn't missed Steve McGarrett going swimming. :)

After six days, you would think I'd have adjusted, right? But my sister, convinced despite my arguments that daylight savings was last weekend, had changed the clocks without telling me. What a mess. Now I'm back home, but I returned on a Tuesday. All week, I've been asking what day it was. I'm just getting oriented, and guess what?: now it really is daylight savings. Sheesh. So fall back, everyone.
How long does it take for y'all to reorient yourselves after a trip or after a time change? Am I the only one crazily spinning?
By the way, it's three a.m. as I write this, and even the crickets aren't chirping this time of year. I feel very much like "the only one" awake.

I don't travel and it only takes a day or so to adjust to the time change.

You must have stronger recuperative powers than I have. Maybe you'd do better with time travel. I should stay home.

Hi Megan. It takes about a week for me to adjust to daylight savings time. And traveling is funny. If I travel east to west, I do fine, but it's the return from west to east that throws me off. California to Texas is pretty bad, however when we went to Hawaii, I thought I'd never get straight.

I read somewhere that if you travel in the same direction the earth rotates, it's more "in rhythm" for your body and easier to adjust. Whereas if you are traveling against the earth's rotation, it's harder. Beats me if that's true.

Megan, I'm a night owl also. I try not to stay up late, but the DVR has been my downfall. I can sit quietly in my study and catch up on everything from news to decorating to dramas. I would like to say that I only stay up late to write, but that's just not true!

I'm still trying to get oriented from the change on Saturday night/Sunday morning. We were at the lake house and I get up early there anyway, but I've been disoriented ever since the sun started going down at 4:30 on Sunday afternoon.

When we travel by car, it's not bad at all. When I fly and we're staying a while, I try to get oriented right away or I stay pretty lost in time. And as someone who has written time travel romances, that's not so hard to do! :-)

You probably already know I'm not a night owl.. from my absence from the monthly CORE dinners.

But I'm really hating the drive home from work in the dark.

And I didn't know you were a Hawaii 5-O fan.
