Thelma and Louise and Naked Men on Bicycles

I've always been a believer that some people come into your life for a specific purpose and as wonderful as those friendships are, may or may not remain a part of your life. Not to discount the importance of those, but the friendships I want to talk about are the ones that stick. You know the ones. Those friendships we make that last a lifetime. Such is my good friend Jean.

This past week I was reminded of just how important those lasting friendships are. We've been friends twenty years and even after she moved half way across the country, we continue to stay in touch. About once a year we ditch our husbands and become Thelma and Louise for a couple days. Okay, we don't drive a classic T-bird convertible, but she did own a couple T-birds and I've had a couple convertibles. To be more precise, our goal is to avoid guys all together for a couple days and just relax and go someplace fun. This year she returned to Texas and we drove to Galveston. I was concerned as to whether she'd be impressed given that she lives two hours from the gorgeous Pacific Coast Highway, but let me say, our trip started out with a bang. Or a thud. You be the judge.

Thelma and Louise got Brad Pitt! We got, well you be the judge of what we saw riding along the Galveston seawall. Hey, it started our trip off with a good laugh.

Can anybody top that?

OMG! You'd think that would, um...hurt the poor guy. Man, I miss ALL the fun stuff!
Hugs!

I went to Galveston this summer with my kids, and I'm REALLY glad we didn't run into him. My tushy is usually sore after a clothed bike ride, so I can't imagine how that works for him!

I really don't think that can compare with a young Brad Pitt! Besides, OUCH! Can you say sore backside. Isn't it wonderful to have friends like that, the ones where we can get together and just be ourselves and they GET IT.

Lovely post, Pam.

Pam:

Sounds like a fun - and eye popping - trip!!! :-)

There really is something just too fun about a girl's weekend. They're always full of laughter and lots of good conversation.

Yes to all that has been said. Ouch! is an understatement. Kids in Galveston - all my life, myself as a kid, my sons, my grandkids. We all love it.

This guy was traveling with traffic so it was hard to see more than his backside from the street, but still. What about those poor people walking on the seawall with their kidos?

And good friends and girlfriend escapes are absolutely the best times.

Does a loin cloth pass for clothing? He was heading for a good sunburn, much less sore bottom. What a free spirit. :-)
Getting together with friends is a good thing. We writers should do more of that. Writing takes up so much time. But the stories need to be written too. Looks like you two had a great time. :-)

The guy with only one tooth in his mouth that hit on you during our Arkasas trip is a pretty good match to this one.

Alright, Louise, that was one of those times where you got to talk to the cute artist and I got stuck with Deliverance. Thelma.

I don't know, Linda. But it was Labor Day at the beach so you can imagine the people around. He had on a string thong, but geesh.

string thong... not too nude then. We have Wreck Beach for those who want to suntan all over. Several times we've encountered naked sunbathers along beaches and rivers when we went hiking with our kids. I noticed, the kids didn't. Never thought to take a picture. lol Sounds like you have a great time with your friend.

What a hoot! Great post. That guy just makes me go "Hmmmmm." Don't you wonder what that story is?

Caroline, spoken like a true writer. Inquiring minds want to know.
