It must be spring! The Hornby Island bald eagles are back with some happy news. Mom laid an egg the night before last, the happy parents are now taking turns incubating the egg, and web cam watchers all over the world are eagerly awaiting the hatch, and keeping fingers crossed for a second egg.
When you visit the web cam site, be sure scroll down and check the Egg Timer for the approximate hatch time.
The Hornby Eagles also have a Facebook page where you'll find photos and updates.
Happy eagle watching!
Until next time,
Lee

What an awesome post. Fingers crossed for a second egg.
It's very egg-citing, Pamela!
Lee,
How egg-citing!LOL Thanks for sharing. I could lose a lot of time watching this.
Linda
LOL, Linda! I usually check the cam in the morning and again in the evening, but closer to hatch time I'll keep the site open in the background. Last year I was lucky enough to see the eaglet hatch. An amazing moment.
Thanks so much for sharing this with us!
I do love the eagles. We used to drive along the Skeena river during the salmon runs to see how many we could count. Thanks for the link.
You're welcome, Leigh! Enjoy!
Where along the Skeena, Linda? I lived up there many, many years ago! Small world, isn't it?
Thanks for sharing!
You're welcome, Estella. Love your profile pic!
Goodness, I cannot believe it's that time again. What a fun, fun webcam. Thanks for the reminder!
My middle 'baby' (who is almost sixteen) is in Seattle this week with my Mom, visiting my aunt and uncle and getting to see the West Coast for the first time. She's in heaven...I don't think she's going to stay in Kansas forever. :)
Thanks for the link, Lee. I just spent 13 minutes listening to birdsong (and rushing water?) and enjoying a sunny morning. Here it's snowing and I have to go out in it. Nice break. I'll be back to visit the birds.
LOL, Gillian. Yes, the birds are back!
How exciting for your daughter to be visiting Seattle...one of my favorite cities!
Glad you got a little taste of spring before heading back into winter, Megan. I'm not sure about the running water. Perhaps there's a stream nearby, or, if the tide is high, you might be hearing the waves. I haven't checked the site yet this morning, but must go take a peek.
This is cool! Is there some way we can set up a reminder on our computers? Something with bells and whistles when it's 5 minutes to go so we can be there for the birth?
CC
LOL, CC! I don't think so. You'll have to set up your own egg timer ;)
There's usually quite a bit of notice because the hatchling really does break its way out of the egg. The first crack and first tiny opening usually appear quite a few hours before the baby is born.
