Let's get creative!

My fingers have been flying over the keyboard on the current Work in Progress. In addition to that, I'm busy plotting another book or two. Sometimes the Muse cannot be controlled! She just wants to get up and get moving.

It doesn't always work that way, of course, so when Ms. Muse is in the mood to create, I run with her. Lately, I feel as if I've done the Boston Marathon three times over--but I'm not complaining! For a writer, that burst of energy is the best feeling in the world!

It's great to have inspiration handy when you need it. That lucky situation doesn't happen only with writers, either. There are all kinds of ways to be creative.

Cooking. Baking. Needlework.

Artwork. Aerobics.

Feng shui-ing your laundry room.

Giving your kid a haircut.

I'm on a two-minute stretch break before the next leg of the Marathon. So, be quick! And tell me, please--what gets your creativity going?

All my best to you,

Barbara

Hey, Barbara, good food for thought. I find I can get recharged by doing anything that involves fellow writers, whether it's a chapter meeting, a conference, or even just participation in a good conversation on a loop. There's something about being in the presence (even cyber presence)of other writers that fires me up. I guess it's because only another writer knows what I'm going through.

Hey, Liz - great observation!

Being around others who have the same interests can really give us an extra boost.

Thanks for sharing!

I'm a quilter and knitter - and lately my creativity with my quilting has been blah...but, I recently discovered a great web-site called Quilting Bloggers - and they randomly pick six or seven sites each day...I've been looking - and boy have I been inspired!

Sara - sometimes a new perspective is just what we need to stir the creative pot, isn't it?

Happy quilting!

And thanks for stopping by.

I ususally put my creativity to work when a special occasion occurs like birthdays and holidays.
I sew, paint, or cook special items for family and friends.
Alot of the time, I get my inspiration from magazines.
I love this time of year because of all of the cooking that is done.

Hi, Joy - I love the people who can get so creative during the holidays! All those homemade items really make things special.

Me, I like this time of year because of eating all those homemade goodies! LOL

Well, I do like to bake, too. ;0)

Hi Barbara,

I find my creativity gets stirred by other people's creativity. So if I'm scrapbooking, I flick through some magazines for inspiration or look around at nature for some colour combinations, or look at book covers for layout ideas, etc.

I rarely end up using something I've seen, but it gets my creativity going so I can come up with my own ideas.

So the answer to your question - others' creativity gets my creativity going.

Rachel - that's the great thing about creativity, whether it's writing, scrapbooking, or making a holiday dinner. We can look at what others have done, and then put our special twist on it!

Thanks for sharing.

Barbara, sorry I'm late! I just returned from a beautiful trip to
Zion National Park where I hiked up the trails of this inspirational landscape. It looks as though God took His paintbrush and streaked each layer with color. I had a lot of travel time in a car to think plot, think next move and to come back ready to write. Good luck making your deadlines and with your next two WIPS.

Donnell - no worries. It sounds like your timing's perfect, anyway--AND like your Muse was along for the ride. Way to go!

Thanks for the good wishes and for stopping by.
